SFPA LIFEGUARDIANS

The goal of SFPA Lifeguardians is to eradicate child drownings by funding high-quality swim lessons for the community’s underprivileged children. Our mission is to create a safe environment for all children to enjoy the water by teaching children who would otherwise be unable to afford high-quality training in life-saving swimming skills as early as six months of age. A 2017 study conducted by the USA Swimming Foundation showed that 79 percent of kids from low-income families are at risk for drowning.  

The ugly truth is Drowning is fast and silent, in as little as 20-60 seconds.

Drowning doesn’t always look like we would expect. SFPA Lifeguardians want to help eliminate preventable drownings!

Water safety and learning how to properly swim are crucial skills that every child should know. 

Drowning is the leading cause of death among children ages 1-5. 

Swim lessons can decrease the risk of drowning. Starting swim lessons before a child’s first birthday triggers memories of the womb and encourages faster learning of swimming skills. Children are unlikely to ever learn to swim if they haven’t learned by age 10.

Safety First PediAquatics Lifeguardians is so grateful for the contributions from our local businesses, who partner with us in our mission of not one more child drowning and help make our community safer. Additionally, businesses will have the opportunity to fund their own employees’ children’s lessons, because, what better way to show your employees they are valued then to give their children the gift of life saving skills in the water.
